Detecting
They've finnaly took out the spuds in one of the fields, haven't found anything in that particular field probably because i was rushing as i have been detecting when ever i can. Im hoping to go back in that field and see what goodies turn up for me.
On saturday i went around the corner of my lucky field where they haven't planted any of the spuds and a 1945 George VI penny popped up, it was in great nick, and also i found a 1937 shell casing which was badly mangled up by the plough.
Has anyone found any finds at all this year?

Re: Detecting
Found a few decent finds before the spuds went in, a small cannon ball, a belt hanger and the usual french coins and 2 kilos of scrap

I found another ramrod end monday the same as the previous two, also a small weight and poss half of a case for pan weights, had a few liards and a nice 4 doubles 1830 also a 2 doubles 1830 as well and a bronze finger ring, mens size not bad for a bank holiday, will bring them along to the next meeting, sorry but missed the last due to work

That's just it most good finds are in the top 8 inches

Re: Detecting
yes, i hope to find a coin or two when they've picked all the spugs out of the field. My normal field never seems to dissapoint. I've had nothing but good finds from that field.

Re: Detecting
I am using my explorer 11 and ocasionally the explorer SE or goldmax power, but I find the ex 11 is easier to work with the signals are clearer without too much fuss, but I admit nothing much is found below 9" DEPTH UNLESS ITS A COKE CAN.

Re: Detecting
I found a good george 3rd silver shilling last night along with a victorian silver threepence, the Explorer SE is still working well, even though the ground is as dry as a bone.

Good find Ken
Nice finds Ken glad your still out there searching,
iv'e havent been out for a while as seem to have a few health probs
with my feet, had to cut my wellies off last time as they swelled up
you need a pickaxe to get into the ground its like concrete
bent my fork trying to get our spuds out of allotment in St Lawrence
cos I was jumping on it to get under them with all my weight.
I was'nt at the meet but did hear about Ians wondeful 2x Gold Sov's he found
somewhere on a beach 2" in mud!
some people have all the luck! they are worth a lot of dosh by the dates
maybe as much as 900 quid each.
Cheers Rob.

Re: Detecting
A great find by dave as well, a gold intaglio probably medieval, I think, nice clear coat of arms on it, I hope he sends it in to Olga.
