Canadian War Medal Re-United with Family after 31 Years
Today 21-7-08 the JEP Photographed the hand over between Mrs Cadec (nee Benton) and myself of a lost
1st WW medal that belonged their relative who died fighting at Vimy Ridge in France 1917 at the age of 27,
"Private A.P. Benton of the Canadian infantry"
I found it 6 inches under the sand in middle of the bay at St Brelades using an early PI detector.
in 1977 and I have been the guardian of it ever since,
I was really Glad to re-unite the family with their lost hierloom.
they also donated £10 to our society.
Rob Thomson.
p.s. keep an eye out in the JEP next few days
